Jackson Malkus

Jackson Malkus is the outreach and events coordinator at Friends Place on Capitol Hill. He supports the operations at Friends Place by preparing the guesthouse for events and offering hospitality to groups and organizations that use the space for meetings and retreats. He is responsible for helping to build the Friends Place community by organizing and facilitating events to educate, energize, and create fellowship. He forms partnerships and collaborations and stewards existing relationships to strengthen the Friends Place network.

Jackson graduated from Salisbury University with a B.A. in philosophy. He was Summa Cum Laude and was named the Philosophy Department’s Outstanding Student of The Year. As a student, he worked as a supplemental instructor, teaching fellow, and youth mentor. He particularly enjoyed leading public philosophy discussions and events with members of his Salisbury community.

Prior to beginning his work at Friends Place in 2023, Jackson worked in career development education with students in Washington, D.C. and Baltimore. He also previously taught embodied mindfulness techniques and social-emotional wellness skills to students and teachers in the Bronx. He entered the advocacy world while working for the New York Public Interest Group by training City College of New York students in organizing and advocacy.
